How do I get a library card and how old do you have to be?
Answer
Thanks for the question!
To get a library card, you just need to come to any of our libraries (here's a map) and fill out an application (if you want to fill it out ahead of time you can download it here: http://library.cabq.gov/pdf/Card_Application.pdf )
People of any age can get a library card, but if you are under 18, you will have more privileges if a parent or legal guardian signs the application and comes with you to get the card. You can see the different card types here. On your own, you can get a Youth card. With your parent or guardian, you can get a customer card.
If you do bring a parent or guardian, have them bring a photo ID and, if the ID doesn't have your current address on it, a proof of address (this can be a utility bill, a rental agreement, or even just a piece of mail with your parent's name and address on it).
More information about our library cards is available here: http://libguides.cabq.gov/librarycards
