Q

Rental applciation asks "Have you ever been convicted of, plead guilty or no contest to any felony or misdemeanor?" how do I answer?

I'm filling out a rental applciation; it asks "Have you ever been convicted of, plead guilty or no contest to any felony or misdemeanor?" I have done this to city ordinance charges, not misdemeanors, I believe; however, if I took probation on a felony charge that was reduced to a misdemenaor (but, probation has been revoked now; and, the case is still not resolved). How should I answer honestly without detailed information?

Thanks for using Ask Us!

The answer to that question would be considered legal advice, which we (librarians, rather than lawyers) are not permitted to give.

However, you can try contacting Law Access New Mexico - they are lawyers and do provide free legal advice by phone: 998-4529 (in Albuquerque) or 1-800-340-9771.

Hope this helps.
